LEGO Fun with Simple Machines (Pre-Robotics 6-8 Years)

Our class uses the Simple Machines set and activity pack and is an excellent way to introduce budding builders to key simple machines concepts while building teamwork and communication skills. Elementary students will discover basic physical science models such as gears, pulleys, levers, and wheels and axles through observation, prediction, reasoning, and critical thinking for the younger child.

Science with WeDo Robotics Build and Program 1 and 2 (Beginner Level 1, 7-10 Years)

Our class uses the WeDo sets and activity pack. We will introduce young builders to building and programming concepts while building teamwork and communication skills. Science activities are divided into themes and engaging experiments. This class is an excellent bridge from Simple Machines to the Robotics program. Students will get their first LEGO® programming experience.

LEGO Robotics Exploration (Beginner Level 1, 8-12 Years)

This fun and exciting class is ideal for beginners. Students will be building and programming robots using a variety of LEGO® Mindstorms™ kits. Working in pairs using LEGO® blocks, gears, motors, and sensors, students will learn the basics of mechanical design, construction, programming, and teamwork skills.

Students will have an opportunity to try different LEGO® systems such as Simple Machines, WeDo, and LEGO® Mindstorms™ kits. This class is excellent for students who have limited experience as it allows them an opportunity to explore and experiment with new concepts while preparing them for more advanced topics.

LEGO® Robotics and Scratch Games (Beginner to Intermediate Level 1-2, 8-14 Years)

This STEAM-based class is an in-depth investigation of building and programming robots using the LEGO® Robotics Systems. Students will learn construction and programming with the LEGO® intelligent brick. Students program a variety of robots and integrate them to move, react, and make sounds to solve Scratch game challenges. Prior experience in robotics is recommended but not required.

LEGO® Robotics with SPIKE Prime®

Beginner – Intermediate Level 1-2, 10 - 14 yrs.

Using the newest technology available from LEGO® Education, students will gain hands-on-experience with LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime the go-to STEAM learning tool for students. Combining colorful, new LEGO building elements, easy-to-use hardware and intuitive drag-and drop coding software based on Scratch, SPIKE Prime will engage students through playful learning to think critically and solve complex problems, regardless of their learning level. Beginning with easy-entry projects moving through the creative design process, this class will teach students the essential 21st century skills needed to become the innovative minds of tomorrow all while having fun.

LEGO Computer Robotics and Coding: EV3 Mindstorms™ (Advanced Level 3, 9-16 Years)

This STEM-based class is an advanced class using the LEGO® Mindstorms™ EV3 Robotics System for students who want to expand their programming skills to the next stage using LEGO® Education Mindstorms EV3 kits with Programming and Data-logging software. Students will construct their robot designs using sensors, motors, and LEGO® Technic building elements to complete game challenges and coding experiments. Prior experience in robotics is recommended but not required.

LEGO Team Project — Green City (Intermediate to Advanced Level 2-3, 8-14 Years)

This class is teamwork centric with an emphasis on Recycling and Green City projects. Students will continue to explore construction and programming techniques with LEGO® Education Mindstorms™ System. Students will focus on Recycling and City concepts while learning to build and program a variety of long-term robot projects in preparation for game challenges and demonstrations. This class will teach students teamwork, project planning, documentation skills, and presentation skills. Previous experience, such as the Level 1 or Level 2 class is required. Availability is limited.

LEGO EV3 Team Project — Space Challenge (Advanced Level 3, 8-16 Years)

This exhilarating class is teamwork focused with an emphasis on Solar System Space projects. Students will learn about Mars and our Solar System while learning to build and program a long-term robot project. Students will be building and programming robots using the LEGO® Mindstorms™ Robotics System. This class will teach students teamwork, project planning, documentation skills, and presentation skills. Previous experience, such as the Level 1 or Level 2 class or LEGO® camp, is required. Availability is limited.

Space Challenge Bots

Scratch Game Design Course — (Advanced Level 3, 8-14 Years)

This STEM class is an introduction to Game Design using Scratch 3 software to teach students about real-world game design concepts in a fun and exciting way. The students will create an account and can download and play their games at home. This class is intended for an intermediate or advanced student that has already taken some coding classes.

LEGO FLL Team Project and Coaching (Advanced Level 3, 8-14 Years)

This class is teamwork focused with an emphasis on FIRST LEGO® League projects. Students will focus on teamwork while learning to build and program a long-term robot project suitable for FLL game challenges and competitions.

Students will be invited to attend competitions and conventions held by FIRST LEGO® League (some additional costs will apply). This class will teach students gracious professionalism, teamwork, project planning, documentation skills, and presentation skills. Previous experience, such as the Level 1 or Level 2 class or LEGO® camp, is required. Note: Some meetings and events will be on weekends to be determined. Availability is limited.


VEX IQ Classes 

Intermediate to Advanced Level, 9 - 14 yrs.

It’s Your Future – Learn about STEM, engineering, and robotics. Let’s Get Started – Learn about VEX IQ, the Controller, and the Robot Brain. Take the next step in your robotics experience and expand your skills building and programming robots using the VEX IQ Robotics System. Students will learn programming skills and engineering design with the VEX IQ system using motors, touch, color, bump and distance sensors. Students will build and code a VEX IQ robot from kits provided. Students will gain teamwork skills while working in small teams, sharing a VEX IQ robotics kit and computer. This class is suitable preparation for students interested in VEX IQ Tournaments.
